The minds behind Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege III have revealed the release date of their upcoming first-person RPG, Avowed.
In an Xbox Blog post by Obsidian Entertainment’s senior communications manager Shyla Schofield, the team revealed that their upcoming game is coming a little sooner than we expected.
“Arriving on February 18, 2025,” reads the post, “Avowed brings you to a previously unseen region from the unforgettable world of Eora, first introduced in the award-winning Pillars of Eternity. In your role as envoy, alongside your companions, you’ll uncover hidden truths and navigate delicate situations, where every choice shapes the fate of the land and the people living here.”

Avowed has a lot of hype behind it, mostly because it’s the first AAA title that Obsidian Entertainment has worked on since Microsoft purchased the developer back in 2018.
A lot fans of the studio are also extra excited to see what the developer can do with a first-person, Elder Scrolls-esque title – considering the positive reception that Fallout: New Vegas garnered.
Obsidian also announced that, as expected, Game Pass holders will be able to get ahold of Avowed on the day it drops.
“In addition, players with a Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership will be able to play Avowed on Battle.net by linking their Xbox and Battle.net accounts. Whether you’re playing on Xbox Series X/S, the Xbox app on Windows, Battle.net, Steam, cloud, or on day one with Xbox Game Pass, get ready to dive into a world where you play your way.”
Personally I’ve been pretty excited for Avowed for a while now. What we’ve seen out of the title so far looks extremely impressive, and given the developer’s track record, I think Avowed could end up being something pretty special.
We’ll have to wait until 18 February (or 13 February if you pre-order) to find out for sure however.
