Reba McEntire is joining The Voice in full force!

A fun new clip from the upcoming Season 24 shows fans what they can expect from the country icon’s debut as a Coach. 

“We’ve got a Queen in the building, Reba is here!” fellow Coach John Legend exclaims in the video. 

Then, we catch a glimpse of McEntire wearing a crown before Coach Niall Horan dances around his chair holding a wand in the air. 

“I’ve had two country hits,” Coach Gwen Stefani says at one point, to which McEntire responds cheekily, “I’ve had more than two…” 

Then, all the Coaches walk around with cardboard cutouts of McEntire’s signature red locks. And in another quirky moment, she sprays ketchup on some tater tots, a nod to the nickname her boyfriend, Rex Linn, has for her. (“Tater Tot!”) 

“Reba’s tots are soggy,” Horan teases. 

“Off with his head!” McEntire jokes in reply.

Reba McEntire talks about joining The Voice

McEntire’s history on The Voice stems all the way back to Season 1, where she was a Battle Advisor. She then returned as a mentor for the Top 12 during Season 8. In Season 23, she was also the Mega Mentor. 

According to an interview with Watch What Happens Live, McEntire was considered for the red chair before Blake Shelton when the show was in its early developing stages. However, she originally turned the offer down.

“It was a very popular show in Holland, I’m pretty sure, and I watched the tape, and I said, ‘No, I’m going to pass on that,’ because I don’t think I could ever be able to tell somebody that they’re terrible or go find another job or hope you like your nighttime job,” she explained in 2022. “I couldn’t do that day in and day out.” 

Good thing she eventually changed her mind!
