Please enjoy this #gaming content, PlayStation Now is Losing a GTA Vice City, below.
Ahead of the transition to becoming a PlayStation Plus tier, Sony’s PlayStation Now service is losing a Grand Theft Auto game.
Whenever Sony reveals the next batch of games coming to its PlayStation Now subscription service, it usually doesn’t reveal how long those games will be available. However, there are some exceptions. If a PlayStation Now game is only going to be available for a few months, Sony usually gives subscribers a heads-up, and that’s the case with the latest game that’s leaving the subscription service.
After today, May 2, PlayStation Now subscribers will no longer be able to play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition is a standalone version of the remastered Vice City as it appears in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The collection hasn’t exactly earned the highest marks from critics or fans, but some subscribers will still be sad to see it removed.
PlayStation Now has so far hosted two out of the three games available through Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. It added Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition late last year, then replaced it with Vice City. One would have guessed that San Andreas would be next in line, but it doesn’t appear to be coming to PlayStation Now.
Sony recently pulled the curtain back on the new PlayStation Now games for May 2022, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition is nowhere to be seen. This is likely because Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition is on Xbox Game Pass, though reports indicate that it will soon be leaving Microsoft’s competing subscription service sooner rather than later.
It’s possible that San Andreas will come to PlayStation Now after it leaves Game Pass, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath. Next month PlayStation Now won’t even exist anymore, as the service is being combined with PlayStation Plus to create the new PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium subscription tiers. New games will still be added for fans to check out in a manner not unlike how PlayStation Now runs now, but it’s unclear exactly how this will all work moving forward.
When the new PS Plus tiers are introduced, PlayStation Now will be replaced. While unconfirmed, there is evidence to suggest that a bunch of PlayStation Now games are leaving ahead of the transition, so subscribers should stay tuned for more information on that front. In the meantime, anyone interested in checking out Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition through PlayStation Now still has about a day to do so from the time of this writing.
