Announcement from: Director of Video Micah Gelman, Senior Producer for Visual Forensics Nadine Ajaka, Executive Producer Tom LeGro and Senior Producer Lauren Saks:

We are delighted to announce several well-earned promotions in Video. Please join us in congratulating our colleagues on their new roles.

Sarah Cahlan becomes senior Visual Forensics reporter. Sarah was a founding member of the Visual Forensics team, which was announced in 2020, and contributed to its first stories, developing the style and tone of its video investigations. Her projects span a gamut of formats, coverage areas and reporting techniques, and include the police clearing of Lafayette Square in 2020, which won an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award; the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, which was part of The Post’s package that won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Public service; and the hourly coverage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Sarah joined The Post in 2019 as a video editor producing video fact checks and stylized animated series for The Fact Checker. She is a former National Association of Hispanic Journalists fellow at NBC News and has worked as an associate producer and researcher at independent documentary production companies in New York.

Joyce Lee becomes senior Visual Forensics reporter. Joyce was a founding member of the Visual Forensics team and spearheaded its techniques for finding new footage and analyzing it to produce compelling stories. These included stories on the police crackdown on protesters at Lafayette Square in 2020, which won an Alfred I. Dupont-Columbia University Award, and the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, which was part of The Post’s package that won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. She joined The Post in September 2017 as a video editor on the Foreign desk, where she covered the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. She previously worked as an associate video producer for Time magazine.

Billy Tucker becomes senior video editor/director. Billy has proved to be an integral member of the live video production team. His skillful editing can be seen in the beautiful opening videos for live shows and in poignant montages, such as the one he created after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. More recently, he directed our coverage of both the Norfolk Southern and TikTok CEOs’ testimonies to Congress. Billy’s time in video production at Turner Sports has given him a keen eye for big visual moments and the ability to deliver edits quickly. His many years watching major political events also means he can quickly find the right news-making moment. Before joining The Post in 2017, Billy was a video editor at CNN.

Joy Sharon Yi becomes senior video editor. Joy is a key collaborator and innovative storyteller on the National desk. In the past few years, she has produced explainers and worked closely with investigative reporters to contribute video coverage to stories. Joy produces visually stunning explanatory journalism from the field, including one video about no-knock warrants for the Broken Doors series. Most recently, she worked with Tom Jackman and The Trace’s Champe Barton to interview victims of an alleged gun flaw that caused unintentional discharges, severely affecting their lives. Joy also jumps on breaking news, including big financial stories involving Silicon Valley Bank and FTX. Last year, she was part of the team that produced a short documentary about the investigation of an officer who killed a teen threatening suicide in Kansas. Joy joined The Post in 2018 as a contractor working on the Stamp team. She previously worked at the Kennedy Center as a multimedia specialist.
